Torrance Memorial IPA receives a 4.5 out of 5 Medicare Advantage Star Rating

We are proud to announce that in January, Torrance Health IPA (THIPA) received a 4.5 out of 5 Medicare Advantage star rating based on its performance in the Integrated Healthcare Association’s Align. Measure. Perform. (AMP) program for measurement year 2018. IHA, a nonprofit industry organization, leverages the same measures and methodologies established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Star Ratings program for health plans.

THIPA was also recognized as a Most Improved provider organization for the same measurement year.

To earn this recognition, a provider organization must achieve an overall star rating of 4.5 across 13 clinical quality measures reported by IHA. Some of the items measured are screenings, tests and vaccines, managing chronic conditions, and drug safety. Only 41 of 175 participating organizations achieved this performance level during 2018.

The Most Improved distinction recognizes provider organizations that have succeeded at elevating their quality of care for their Medicare Advantage populations. To earn this recognition, organizations must improve their overall star rating by at least half a star.

THIPA takes pride in the quality of care we offer our community and are honored to receive this award. Thanks to the dedication of our team, we continue to provide high-quality care to our members throughout the South Bay.

THIPA, a multispecialty, nonprofit physician network, has been serving the South Bay community since 1983. Its members benefit from convenient access to high-quality, personalized care from nearly 500 physicians and Torrance Memorial Medical Center. IHA promotes health care quality improvement, accountability and affordability for patients across California and the nation.
